Goals available for this plugin:

GoalDescription
openjpa:enhanceProcesses Application model classes and enhances them by running Open JPA Enhancer tool. This basically only acts as a container for the xdoclet stuff since all the required functionality is already in the AbstratOpenJpaEnhancerMojo.
openjpa:helpDisplay help information on openjpa-maven-plugin.
Call 
  mvn openjpa:help -Ddetail=true -Dgoal=<goal-name>
to display parameter details.
openjpa:schemaExecutes the schema generation via the OpenJPA MappingTool.
openjpa:sqlExecutes the SQL generation via the OpenJPA MappingTool.
openjpa:test-enhanceProcesses Application model classes and enhances them by running Open JPA Enhancer tool.

Usage

You should specify the version in your project's plugin configuration:
